KBS
2003 –
Krakow
Kettil Bruun Society
Krakow,
Poland, June 2–6, 2003
Hosted
by the Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology
The Symposium
was co-sponsored by the Kettil Bruun Society and the International Council on
Alcohol and Addictions.
The aim of this
29th Symposium was to have an in-depth look at the advances in alcohol research
and raise further research issues and opportunities, taking into account
experiences from around the world. The
scope of the Symposium was broadly defined to include studies of determinants of
drinking, practices, attitudes, and problems in the general as well as in the
clinical populations, and the social and institutional responses to
drinking-related problems. Research and action research reports were welcome as
much as theoretical papers. Participants arrived from the whole range of social
and health sciences.
The Symposium
included discussions on submitted papers, prepared discussion sessions and
topical workshops. The emphasis was on discussions, papers were pre-circulated
and then introduced by the author with a 10-minute presentation prior to
discussion.
Pre-symposium workshops were organized on Saturday, May 31st and Sunday, June 1st.
As ten
year ago, the symposium sessions and pre-symposium workshops were held at
the Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University, located in the
Krakow Old City, Sw. Anny str. 12.
