Invited participants, representing 15 countries, with researchers from the Emergency Room Collaborative Alcohol Analysis Project (ERCAAP) and the WHO Collaborative Study on Alcohol and Injuries, met in the first major conference on this research topic in 20 years —

  • To promote a scientific exchange of current findings, developments, and key issues

  • Identify limitations and gaps in this research

  • Discuss and promote translation of research findings into practice

  • Discuss public health policy implications; develop recommendations toward funding priorities for future research

  • Discuss and plan future collaborations
